Subsystem of the information analytical decision-making system for freight transportation «Analysis of the efficiency of the Belarusian Railway» (together with the joint venture CJSC «International Business Alliance» IBA)

The subsystem «Analysis of the efficiency of the Belarusian Railway» is designed for:

• providing specialists and managers of the road with prompt and reliable information about the cargo transportation carried out and performed;
• information support for the adoption of sound management actions in solving the main tasks of improving the efficiency and competitiveness of railway transport in the market of services, increasing the volume and quality of transportation, reducing transport costs;
• displaying the efficiency of the production process of the enterprise;
• visualizations of explicit and implicit relationships between the performance indicators of the Belarusian Railway;
• strengthening the functions of interaction between employees of the services and divisions of the Belarusian Railway involved in providing transportation.

The main purpose of the system is to automate the calculations of the analysis of the performance of performance indicators and to assess the impact of various factors on these indicators for a short period (day).

Within the framework of this system, the following tasks are solved:

a) Development of a methodology for conducting an operational analysis of the work of the road:

• determination of the list of the main qualitative and quantitative indicators characterizing the work of the road and its structural divisions;
• determining the relationship between indicators and their mutual influence;
• development of a hierarchy of levels of detail of qualitative and quantitative indicators (road – branch – linear objects);
• development of a methodology for factorial operational analysis of the work of the road and its structural units.

b) Development of software for collecting source data and expanding the database.

c) Development of software for solving problems of analysis of indicators and interaction with other subsystems:

• development of information and analytical data showcases with the level of detail «month» to provide the possibility of analyzing the operation of the road for long time periods (over 3 years).

d) Providing visualization of analysis tasks and issuing final solutions:

• development of a mechanism for visualizing analysis based on diagrams, with the ability to navigate between different levels of detail, taking into account the cross-dependencies of indicators. It should be possible to group performance indicators for the selected Road object (performance of a number of disparate indicators by a specific Road department, station, depot, etc.).
