The branch research laboratory «Technical and Technological assessments of the resource of rolling stock units» was established on the basis of the joint order of the Belarusian Railway and BSUT № 03/1 dated 24.01.97 and is a structural unit of BSUT.
Scientific developments cover a significant range of issues related to improving the reliability and durability of rolling stock, traffic safety in railway transport.
The priority direction of the laboratory is the technical diagnostics of wagons of all types in order to determine the remaining life and prolong the service life.
The laboratory employs qualified engineers, including candidates and doctors of technical sciences.
The right to carry out work, the field of activity, the technical competence of the laboratory is certified:
- Certificate of accreditation № BY/112 1.1688 dated 21.03.2011 that the branch research laboratory «Technical and Technological resource assessments of rolling stock units» meets the criteria of the Accreditation System of the Republic of Belarus and is accredited for technical competence in accordance with the requirements of STB ISO/IEC 17025. The certificate gives the right to diagnose all types of railway cars and is issued by the national accreditation body of the Republic of Belarus.
- Certificates for the right to perform work on expert examination and technical diagnostics of passenger and freight cars in order to determine the remaining life and issue an opinion on the possibility of extending the service life on the territory of the CIS countries, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
Laboratory staff have certificates of competence for carrying out work on:
- ultrasonic method of non-destructive testing;
- visual inspection;
- magnetic method of non-destructive testing;
- capillary control method;
- visual method.
One of the main tasks of the laboratory is to monitor the technical condition of the car fleet with an assessment of the remaining resource and prolongation of service life. For this purpose, systematic monitoring of the monitoring of the condition of the car fleet is carried out in order to make the fullest use of the resource.
The laboratory also performs:
- development of methods for technical diagnostics of rolling stock in accordance with STB 2534-2018 in order to extend the service life of more than one and a half established by the manufacturer;
- execution of the entire complex of calculations for wagons;
- development of design solutions for the modernization of rolling stock;
- development of technical regulations in the field of railway transport.
