Results of the XVIII International olympiad of university students in theoretical mechanics

The 18th International olympiad of university students in theoretical mechanics was held at our university.

It was attended by students of 20 universities from 4 countries: Belarus, China, Turkmenistan and Russia.

According to the results of the theoretical competition, which presented very complex problems developed by the head of the Department of Technical Physics and Theoretical Mechanics of our university, Gu Dasheng, a student of Huazhong University of Science and Technology located in Wuhan (China), showed the absolutely best result.

Chen Xiao, a student at the Harbin Institute of Technology, is in the second place. The third result was shown by Alexander Ershov, a student of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

In the team competition of the theoretical competition, the team of Huazhong University of Science and Technology showed the best result.

In the Brain Ring competition the largest number of correct answers were given by students of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Zhejiang University, located in Hangzhou, who shared the first place.

The results of the Olympiad competitions are presented in the tables.

Our students also performed well, who showed the final third result from the teams of belarusian universities participating in the competition. Our team consisted of Daria Kupreeva, Anna Tsykunenko, Sergey Shaganov, Denis Gorbun and Mikhail Shershnev. In the Brain Ring competition, the national team, which included Denis Gorbun, Mikhail Shershnev and Shohrat Babamuradov, a student at the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan, took the high sixth place.

All participants noted the high level of organization of our Olympiad and expressed the wish that such Olympiads would be held in BSUT in the future.
