XV International Olympiad on Theoretical Mechanics

From 15 to 18 April, the 15th International Olympiad on Theoretical Mechanics was held at our university. It was attended by 150 students from 39 universities of 6 countries. 
The students competed in two contests: theoretical (each participant needed to solve 8 difficult problems during 4 hours), and the Brain-Ring contest (each team of three people needed to solve 30 short problems during 60 minutes).
The results of the theoretical contest were summarized both in the individual and in the team tests.

5 students were awarded with gold medals and diplomas of the first degree.
It is noteworthy that this year students from Belarus, Russia, China and Ukraine received such medals.
The participants who were members of our university team also showed themselves well. So, Anna Gutoreva and Olga Demyanchuk showed 3 and 4 results among all Belarusian students who took part in the Olympiad, losing only to representatives of the GSU and ahead of BSU, BNTU and many others.
In the team contest, the winners were students of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, who were ahead of representatives of Kharkiv National University, North-West Polytechnic University (Xi'an, China) and other leading universities in Russia, Belarus and China.
According to the results of the Brain-Ring contest, four teams scored the same number of points.
The team of our university, which included Anna Goutoreva, Olga Demyanchuk and Alesia Schubert, took the second place among the Belarusian participants.
We note a great interest in our Olympiad shown by foreign universities.
Thus, in China, 308 students from 48 universities fought for the right to represent their country in it on a regional tour. As a result of the selection, the six best teams arrived to us and showed themselves very well.
We hope that next year the Olympiad will be held at the same high level.
