On the instructions of the Belarusian Railway, comprehensive studies of the load-bearing capacity and residual life of cast parts of freight car bogies were carried out. According to the results of the research, it was found that cast parts of the first generation made of carbon steel 20L have a residual life of at least 10 years, and parts of the second generation made of low-alloy steels for at least 20 years.

By the decision of the Commission of the Council for Railway Transport of the CIS, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, the service life of cast parts of trucks of freight cars has been extended for 6 years. The economic effect amounted to more than 6 million conventional units (2002). The service life of cast parts of the first generation has been extended by 6 years, and the second generation by 3 years.
